Amin is Professor of Intelligent Engineering Systems at Nottingham Trent University. He acted as the national Director of DTA-Energy (Doctoral Training Alliance) between 2016 and 2023. Currently the Director of Product Innovation Centre at NTU. His research and teaching activities focus on multi-disciplinary topics in the broad area of AI, product design, automation, energy and engineering. Amin is currently leading the Innovative and Sustainable Built Environment Technologies research group (iSBET)  in Advanced Manufacturing Technologies from the University of Nottingham. Amin is a Chartered Engineer and past chairman of the IET for the East Midlands Region and Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire local network panel.
