Nottingham Trent University graduate Patrick Kennedy aimed to create a mouse with an adjustable angle, providing users with the flexibility to find their desired ergonomic position.
In the modern digital era, individuals typically spend a minimum of 8 hours using a mouse for work. Unfortunately, the conventional mouse can lead to wrist strain and subsequent health issues.

Over time, prolonged use of standard computer mice can contribute to conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, and repetitive strain injury, particularly when only one wrist is affected. This can become a significant issue later in life.

In 2002, Evoluent introduced a potential solution with the Evoluent Vertical Mouse 4, but it didn’t achieve widespread popularity. Nevertheless, the demand for ergonomic mice continues to rise as more individuals prioritise safeguarding their wrists and preventing injuries. The FOLD innovation directly addresses the challenges users encounter when switching between different types of mice.

It may take some effort for users to get accustomed to using a vertical mouse initially due to certain design drawbacks. Since the movements are not dependent on the wrist, users may experience a decrease in accuracy when clicking. This transition can be challenging as vertical mice operate differently, and the varying levels of mouse usage in different software applications require flexibility. However, the associated costs and space constraints may make this transition more challenging than it’s worth.

The FOLD is a pioneering standard & vertical mouse, designed to deliver the ergonomic advantages of a vertical mouse without the challenges of finding he optimal angle and adapting to its new form.

The designer emphasised the importance of “ergonomic adaptability” in his design, aiming for it to serve dual functions. Overcoming this design challenge required creating over 20 prototypes before arriving at the final design, which incorporates a straightforward hinge mechanism to adjust to the user’s preferred angle.

In conclusion, the FOLD Mouse is the perfect tool for anyone who wants to work comfortably and efficiently. Its adjustable design and ergonomic features make it an excellent investment for anyone who spends long hours in front of a computer.
