Copper Alloys makes further investment to enhance chemical analysis capabilities
Copper Alloys' ED-XRF Spectro XEPOS Spectrometer
Copper Alloys has confirmed a significant investment in machinery dedicated to chemical analysis and further increasing level of chemical control.

To bolster existing analysis capabilities of the company, £110,000 has been invested in an ED-XRF Spectro XEPOS Spectrometer. Using the latest energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence technology to improve both accuracy, repeatability and efficiency of chemical analysis.

Not only will the new equipment provide a performance increase to the analysis post casting, but also improve capabilities when performing failure analysis. The much smaller unit allows for analysis on smaller cross section pieces, allowing for locational precision.

The progressive technology is ideal for sensitive, precision activity, excelling in analysis for a variety of industries and elements, including metals and components for marine, defence, aerospace and subsea applications.

With years of experience in Copper and Nickel based material, engineers at Copper Alloys have developed internal specification limits, much tighter than the original specification, to make the production of all their alloys more effective. These internal limits have been developed for various reasons, such as improving strength of alloys and increasing formability.

The new Spectro XEPOS has been introduced to enhance available levels of analysis for all these limits developed over the years. Having materials manufactured with the ideal chemical analysis ultimately saves time and money while reducing operational downtime.

Copper Alloys has been creating custom materials since the 1940s and are recognised as global-experts for analysing and creating the best metals for use in critical applications.

Copper Alloys’ failure analysis testing and precise quality control ensures that materials can withstand the environments they are developed for. The reliability and integrity of Copper Alloys’ metals and critical components are always of world-leading quality.

Copper Alloys is certified by the British Standards Institution Quality Register to ISO 9001: 2015 AS9100, meaning that the risk of metal and alloy failure is minimised. The commitment to the most stringent quality testing enables Copper Alloys to provide the utmost confidence in the very latest metals.
